Selections
Making selections can be a daunting task if you don’t know where to start. We want the entire space to be cohesive and then to also have some sense of continuity throughout the home. We like to start with finding our favorites. Favorite place to be, favorite things to do, favorite colors, textures. Why do you like them?
If you are looking for your kitchen, ask yourself what your favorite countertops are, regardless of fitting into whatever trends tell you you should like. Play a game on houzz or pinterest by focusing on finding your favorite things in the categories you are trying to fill the blanks of.
It always helps to have an overall vision before starting the selections process. It helps to know what you want each space to feel like and what tasks need to be done there. After that is established, I like to find a piece of art or a rug, or anything that inspires me and go from there. That’s where it can get tricky if you’re not interested in the search, haha. To us, it’s like a fun treasure hunt and to some it’s exhausting trips to multiple stores and venues and sometimes hours and hours on the internet.
Happy hunting!!
