Lights!

Choosing the lighting is like choosing jewelry. It can literally add sparkle to your home, and draw attention where it should be. Lighting is such a key element in design in that it can be manipulated to change the mood, size, rhythm, and sometimes shape of a space. This is an illusion of course. With the right lighting you can create a grand entry, a retro dining area, a modern office, a chic closet or dressing area, and so on. To highlight art or millwork that would otherwise get lost in the rest of the design. Whether it’s simple or grand it will say something about the room.

So how do you go about deciding lighting? We start by looking at your overall design and narrow down what look we are going for. We figure out what size we will need to illuminate the space. We think about textures and colors, lines and shapes.

We sometimes forget that windows are considered “lights” as well. A thoughtfully placed window on an advantages side of the home can increase the utility of the space exponentially! As we know, the morning light is different from the evening we like to think of how that will affect that area of the home at those times as well.
